Il utilise les mêmes pinceaux sur Silent Path que sur Ekove Efrits avec une pallette beaucoup moins flamboyante, toute en nuances de noirs. Si Mourner Portraits respecte avec talent les codes du black metal dépressif (avec guitares répétitives lancinantes et tempo lent), ce sont les atmosphères qui sont encore une fois le vrai point fort, véhiculant désespoir total voire pures visions d'horreurs liées à la guerre.
